Having spent his childhood surrounded by fresh coffee, Rafael knew that he wanted to be part of the coffee culture buzz so 16 years ago in Playa del Carmen, Mexico he started to research what really made the perfect cup. A business soon grew and he realised that to ensure premium quality coffee he would have to go directly to the source. Unfortunately, the Chiapas region was in the grip of the Zapatista uprising and Rafael had an eventful first visit to Yajalon!
Moved and inspired by the people’s passion for coffee and the spirit of the region, Rafael decided to source all of his coffee from Yajalon.
When Rafael met Alison the English connection was made. After visiting Alison’s family farm in Warwickshire and spending 12 months trying many different brands of coffee, Rafael was determined to introduce top quality, freshly roasted Mexican coffee to the English market.
